Cactus- Oroya/Matucana borchersii (3.5")

Oroya borchersii—named for German cactus explorer Dr. Philipp Borchers and sometimes classified under the genus Matucana—is a beautiful, globular Peruvian cactus that grows at extreme altitudes of 12,800 to 14,100 feet in the Cordillera Blanca and Negra. What makes it special is its dense, comb-like armor of yellow to reddish-brown spines that completely covers the body, paired with small, yellow-green flowers that emerge from a distinctive ring near the crown. In cultivation, it needs bright light but dislikes excessive summer heat, so filtered sun or partial shade during the hottest part of the day is ideal; water regularly in summer but allow the soil to dry between waterings, and keep it cool and completely dry in winter—this high-mountain gem is hardy down to at least 5°F and thrives on the wide temperature swings it experiences in its native puna.

Our plants are shipped in pots and a soil-less mix designated for the species. Using the appropriate soil is critical for healthy root function, moisture management, and overall plant resilience, giving you the best chance for success.
Standard shipping: Plants will arrive in 5-7 business days. 
Priority shipping: Plants will arrive in 2-5 business days.
Winter Shipping (Recommended for Frost-Tender Plants): To protect plants from cold during transit, we highly recommend adding a 72-hour heat pack and Priority shipping. (Please contact us if you need assistance).
Weather Delays: We reserve the right to postpone shipping during inclement weather to ensure plant safety. You will be notified if your shipment is delayed.
Shipping Destinations: We currently ship within the USA only.
